“Akitu” means the “peak” or “highest point ”in Māori and that is exactly what the team over at Akitu Vineyards strive to do with their Pinot Noirs – make the highest quality around. Well, being somewhat Pinot Noir fans here at The New Zealand cellar we can assure you, this has been achieved!

But hey, don’t take our word for it, come along and try them for yourself on Thursday 2nd May when we welcome back our dear friend and all round legend Andrew Donaldson. Having founded Akitu way back 2001, we will be in good hands as he takes us through his current vintage if Pinots, as well as a few surprises as well.

The Akitu vineyard itself is set in the heart of Central Otago, the 12-hectare vineyard sits alone at 380-meters above sea level in the southern most winemaking region in the world. The vineyard itself is entirely dedicated to Pinot Noir, block planted from 6 carefully selected that produce Akitu’s two wines ‘A1’ and ‘A2’.

But you’ll get the full story on the night, so make sure you arrive at 5.30pm to get your name on the list, for a prompt 6.00pm start!

See you then!
