When the topic of French wine is raised in conversation the majority will talk of only the most prestigious regions perhaps Burgundy, Bordeaux, The Rhone Valley or The Loire, casually overlooking the wines of Southern France.
However, as our annual Southern French offerings from Domaine de la Jasse continue to grow rapidly in popularity year on year, it is clear that wine enthusiasts have become wise to the exceptional quality and value this region now offers. With over 700,000acres under vine, the Lauguedoc is the biggest single wine producing region in the world, responsible for one third of France’s annual wine production.
With this quantity comes a high degree of quality following major investment from wine makers the world over.
This investment is now also spilling over into the surrounding regions, from the rolling hills of Provence to the dramatic slopes of Roussillon. The resulting wines are diverse, delicious and certainly worthy of further investigation.
Our wine buyer, Ben Godfrey, has travelled extensively throughout the south of France, and our Private Sales Manager, George Unwin, has a great love of the wines from these regions, so who better to guide you through this tasting.
They will talk you through a carefully selected range of ten wines, touring across this vast region, followed by a dinner encompassing southern French cuisine partnered by a selection of suitable wines.
