Glorious Greece with Quentin Sadler

Thursday 14 March 2013

,

Our own Quentin Sadler has been keen on Greek wines for over 20 years since his days promoting them at The Greek Wine Bureau and has always enjoyed introducing sceptical consumers to the delights that Greece has to offer.

Greece has a wine making tradition that goes back thousands of years – indeed it was the Greeks who took the vine to France, there are many fascinating wine regions and a wide palate of exciting indigenous grape varieties – many of them very old indeed and all unique to the country.

In 2012 Quentin toured the wine regions of northern Greece to update his knowledge and he fell for Greek wines all over again. He also fell in love with the beautiful landscape the glorious food and the hospitable people. Quentin will lead a tasting of wines that he encountered on his trip and introduce you to the flavours of this extraordinary wine producing country.

Amongst other things we will taste Rapsani from Mount Olynpus, Metoxi Chromitsa from Mount Athos, Assyrtiko from the island of Santorini and Nemea from the Peloponnese and Naoussa from Macedonia – and not a drop of Retsina will be in sight
