This is an absolute classic of a vintage and unfortunately with a very modern price attached. Built like a 2000 with lots of intensity but with the balance and freshness of the superbly made 1990s and similarly to that vintage it was one of those rare beasts where there was high quality throughout the range from Grand Cru to Cru Bourgeois, right bank to left. It has been difficult to restrain wanting to taste them too early but now they are in their tenth years they should be starting to show their true colours.
We will taste Chateau La Gaffeliere, Chateau La Gomerie, Domaine de Chevalier, Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, Chateau Palmer, Chateau Montrose, Chateau Cos D’Estournel, Chateau Pichon Lalande, Chateau Pichon Baron & Chateau Lynch Bages.
