Handford Wines: 5 Decades of Chateau Talbot with Richard Brazier

Thursday 21 March 2013

,

The much out of date 1855 Medoc Classification has Chateau Talbot as fourth class but in reality it has behaved a couple of levels above that in the last 40-50 years. Due to the Cordier connection it is often ‘twinned’ with Gruaud Larose and often seen at a lesser example but the difference is much closer if indeed there is any at all. As with all great Chateaux, Talbot has a great ability to age and its comparative rustic style is something of a reassurance in Bordeaux today whilst too many try to compromise with an all too soft and an over fruity global style.
We will be looking at 2005, 2000, 1996, 1990, 1988, 1986, 1985, 1982, 1966 & 1958
