Dönnhoff Riesling Masterclass

Thursday 2nd May – sit down with Cornelius Dönnhoff

£49.00

Hailed by Wine Spectator as the “undisputed star” of Germany’s Nahe region, The Dönnhoff family have owned this Nahe estate for over 250 years, with the current owner Helmut Dönnhoff currrently handing on the baton to his Son Cornelius whilst through careful acquisitions continuing to grow the size of the estate. Dönnhoff has gradually built this estate into arguably one the best in Germany, producing ethereal Riesling No other winery exceeds the clarity, polish, complexity and sheer beauty of flavour of Donnhoffs finest wines. 2011 was a roller coaster of a vintage that turned out well in the end with a long Indian summer. Which is already producing enticing early drinking. Described by Michael Schmidt as 'a vintage which will be up there with the greats of recent decades. Helmut Dönnhoff was even more enthusiastic about the vintage " I have never seen such beautiful grapes in my entire career"
We will taste 10 wines total including the following from the 2011 vintage and also have a sneek preview of 2012:

Tonschiefer Riesling Dry, Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett,
Oberhauser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett,
Schlosböckelheimer Felsenturmchen Riesling Spatlese,
Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule,
Niederhausser Hermannshöhle Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule
