Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!

Come celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau evening with Jimmy Smith, wine school founder, with flowing Beaujolais Nouveau on tap and ten Cru village wines to taste through!

In April 2017 wine school headmaster Jimmy Smith boarded his trusty steed Jeff the orange VW campervan (pictured) and headed on a vinous journey to beautiful Beaujolais in the south of France. This truly superb evening are the fruits of their labours after visiting countless producers to seek out the creme de la creme of this really exciting and transforming wine region. There is remarkable value-for-money to be found here, and as Burgundy is becoming over-priced and unobtainable, Beaujolais is stepping up to the plate in true form. Bravo!

Beaujolais is the wine region bordered by Macon of Burgundy to the north and the vibrant Lyon in the south. It was cultivated by the Romans initially (indeed the villages of Julienas and Brouilly take their names from Julius Caesar and Brutus respectively). Today it is a vibrant vinous region of around 27,000 hectares, mainly the grape variety Gamay, dominated by the Monts de Beaujolais that shape the vineyard landscape here for the premium tasty wines of the ten cru villages; Saint-Amour, Julienas, Chenas, Morgon, Fleurie, Chiroubles, Moulin-au-Vent, Regnie, Brouilly and Cote de Brouilly. These wines are far superior to their gentle easy-drinking wines counterparts of Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages offering wines of complexity, intensity, balance and length. And what's more, there not expensive!

All the ten Cru wines will be on Tasting PLUS Beaujolais Nouveau on tap!
