West London Wine School founder and Chief Taster, Jimmy Smith, took flight this time to the Mediterranean's largest island, Sicily. The quest was simple – discover some absolute beauties to create a wonderful masterclass for everyone to enjoy. This tasting will discover a selection of red hot wines from regions such as Etna and Vittoria and how the very distinctive soils such as lava rock and limestone craft such an array of elegant but complex styles.

Jimmy will set the scene by guiding you through the complex history of this large island. Through discovering the volcanic effect from Etna, Stromboli and Vulcano he will show how these volcanic soils craft different wines from mainland Sicily. You will taste an array of pure Etna Rossos made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio, as well as the elegant and refined Etna Bianco crafted from Carricante. No wonder this has been called the 'Burgundy of Italy!' We will also dive into the wonderfully impressive wines of COS in Vittoria crafting complex wines from Nero d'Avola and Frapatto. For good measure we'll also look into the island wines of Pantelleria, Lipari and Salina and how they craft well-known sweet wines.

The tasting will comprise of 8-10 wines (knowing Jimmy it will be 10...) with lots of pictures of the trip, the restaurants, the sights and of course the vineyards, wineries and winemakers.
