Rhône Tasting; A Quartet of Vintages: 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018
Date: Tuesday 24th March 2020 Venue: Factory House, 37 Leadenhall Place, London, EC3M 7AA Time: 5.00pm – 8.00pm Tickets: £30.00 (fully refundable on orders of £250 or more) Certainly one of France’s most under-valued regions, the Rhône offers bountiful opportunity to stock the cellar with magnificent (and age-worthy) reds and wonderfully complex and fresh whites across the quality spectrum while offering great value for money. Even at the top tier in Chateauneuf du Pape, Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie, pricing remains friendly when compared to Grand Cru and Cru Classé in Burgundy and Bordeaux respectively. 2018 in the Rhône is another special vintage – the fourth in a row. ‘Another one?’, we hear you exclaim! Yes! For that reason, we’ll be showing all four vintages at our tasting. I’m sure you’ll agree, a vinously brilliant chance to try these outstanding vintages side by side and judge for yourself – come and see the evolution of these wines across the four vintages. Powerful yet charming and polished in the North (Hermitage, Cote Rotie), with beautiful freshness and balance to those who managed the early rains in the South (Chateauneuf, Gigondas), this is another vintage to demonstrate why the Rhône continues to grow in popularity. We expect to be showing the beautiful wines of: Domaine Cayron, Gigondas; Domaine Rostaing, Côte Rôtie; Domaine Clusel Roch, Côte Rôtie; Domaine Garon, Côte Rôtie; Domaine François Villard, Saint Joseph; Domaine Niero, Côte Rôtie; Domaine du Colombier, Hermitage; Domaine Pochon, Crozes-Hermitage; Chateau des Roques, Vacqueyras; Domaine du Grand Tinel, Chateauneuf-du-Pape; Domaine Les Hautes Cances, Cairanne, amongst others. As a result of the unusual tasting format this year, our 2018 Rhône En Primeur offer will also therefore be slightly different. We shall be including our picks from the 2018 vintage, alongside those we feel are worth highlighting from the previous three years. The full offer and further details on the vintage will follow in the coming weeks. For now, sign up to the most exciting tasting of the Spring. Tickets are very limited and offered on a first come, first served basis, so please book early to avoid disappointment. If you wish to book a table for supper afterwards, you can do so by clicking here, alternatively, you can call the bar directly on020 7929 4590 to make your reservation
