Sherryfest Seminar: Old & Rare
Monday 7 October 2013
,
Hosted by Bodegas Tradición & Sánchez Romate
In the solera system, sherry is capable of aging in barrel for an extraordinarily long time, acquiring an inimitable complexity and character. Many of the great wines of the region have an average age that can be measured in decades, and these are necessarily bottled in tiny quantities.
Bodegas Tradición specializes in very old sherries, bottling three VORS examples (Vinum Optimum Rare Signatum, or Very Old Rare Sherry) and one VOS (Vinum Optimum Signatum, or Very Old Sherry). Also in Jerez, Sánchez Romate produces an outstanding range of VORS sherries, labeled Old & Plus. We’ll have Lorenzo García-Iglesias from Bodegas Tradición and Borja Leal from Sánchez Romate here with us to present some of their old wines, and we’ll be comparing these with rarities from other bodegas as well, offering an exciting opportunity to taste some of the finest wines of the sherry region.
