Southern Rhone Tasting (ONLINE TASTING)

On this wonderful evening we will taste some delicious wines from the French Rhone Valley, home to Chateauneuf-du-Pape.  We'll compare simple Cotes-du-Rhone with a village wine and finally a Cru wine that is a great alterative to Chateauneuf, but usually less expensive. Did you know...

• the French have been making wine in the Rhone Valley for over 2500 years?
• the Rhone Valley is the second largest quality wine producing region in France?

We'll take a look at the Appelations, the traditions and the lovely fruity, spicy warming wines from this region. I recommend buying in advance:  Any bottle of simple Cotes-du-Rhone.  There are many examples available at different prices some very inexpensive at around £5. A bottle of Cotes-duRhone Vaillges.  I'll be using the M. Chapoutier available from Tesco at £9. A bottle of Vacqueyras.  I''l be using the Domaine Montvac Arabeque from the Wine Society at £14.95 but you'll find good examples around this price online and aslo in Waitrose, Booths and M&S. You'll be opening those wines LIVE with us on the night.and we'll give you some good advice regarding preservation if you don't want to drink them all straight away.
