Tasting at Home - Burgundy versus The New World
Central France houses Burgundy, a wine region locked in any wine aficionados heart. It is steeped in tradition and home to classic grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Gamay and the expressive Pinot Noir. Within the undulating hills of Côte d’Or, from villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin and Puligny-Montrachet, we find the famous expressions of these classic grape varieties, and wines to die for (especially when looking at your bank balance). The region may be small in size but its influence is huge. The complexity of Burgundy can cast fear into the heart of even a seasoned wine pro, but fear not – we are here to talk you through the region and help you to go forth and find tasty and affordable wines! What about these grapes when grown outside of France? What does "New World Chardonnay" taste like? What about a classic "New World Pinot Noir" and how do these compare to their counterpoints from Burgundy. Tasting side by side is the perfect way to explore the differences and see which you like best. All in all a fantastic opportunity to taste exciting wines and learn something new. Challenge the way you think about wine - for ever! Key Details: Wine is not included but we will recommended wines to try during the tasting session, however these are not mandatory and can be substituted with wines of your choice from the region or grape variety.
