The Importance of Glassware: A Tutored Comparison

Tuesday 10 September 2013

,

When enjoying fine wine, the importance of sensible storage and the correct serving temperature is well understood, but choosing the right vessel for drinking wine is not just a matter of style and aesthetics.

Join us for a unique tasting comparison across 3 different glasses: 2 leading brands and an ISO as a neutral reference point across 4 classic fine wines. Taste through Vintage Champagne, Grand Cru Chablis, a Premium New World Pinot Noir and a top Bordeaux. This is a chance to see how some of the finest glassware available, shaped to suit each wine, makes a difference to the flavour and your ultimate enjoyment.

Daniel Primack, of Around Wine in Marylebone, will discuss the role of shape, size and weight of glassware as well as the difference machine made vs. mouth-blown glass plays, as we taste the wines from Riedel, Zalto and ISO glasses. The difference the shape of the glass has on the impact of flavour will astound you.

Leading British wine expert, author, wine competition judge and PhD, Jamie Goode will discuss the flavours and textures of wine and how they are perceived by your senses.

* each guest will take home a premium mouth-blown wine glass worth £30
