West London Wine School: 2014 Oregon – Greatest Vintage Ever?

Wednesday 11 April 2018

,

Join us on a rare opportunity to taste some of the greatest Pinot Noirs outside of Burgundy, hailing from the famous vineyards of the Willamette Valley in Oregon, United States.

Oregon winemakers reported a bumper harvest in 2014 with quality that the 'public will fall all over' (Decanter Wine Magazine). Thomas Bachelder, of The Bachelder Project, said the wines should have ‘lovely high sugars with great concentration, incredible dry extract and length in the mouth’. It may be remembered as the vintage of a lifetime. From bud break through harvest, growers and winemakers throughout the state experienced an almost ideal growing season that delivered a record amount of exceptional, balanced fruit. Even the French were impressed “2014 is so clean,” said Jacques Lardière, the former winemaker for Louis Jadot in Burgundy, making his second vintage in Oregon for the French négociant's new project there. “There was very little left on the sorting table.”
