West London Wine School CVNE Rioja Masterclass
Wednesday 3 December 2014
,
Join us for a superb Rioja Masterclass that will put you firmly into the Christmas spirit.
C.V.N.E, or to give it its full name, Compañía Vinicola del Norte de España (The Northern Spanish Wine Company) was established on the 24th of March 1879. Set up by two brothers, Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa. C.V.N.E are based in the heart of the Rioja wine region, in the town of Haro, where they have huge capacity for ageing thousands of bottles. They produce a wide range of wines with quality being the primary focus.
We will be exploring the whole range including unoaked and oaked white Rioja, red Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva and one of their finest wines, Real de Asua.
Rioja is hugely popular in the UK and it's easy to understand why. The reds are smooth, rich and sensual, with spicy oak tones and are often reminiscent of the flavours of Christmas – dried fruits and sweet spice. It is virtually impossible not to enjoy these wines! Throughout the session we will cover the history of Rioja, its climate, demystify those labelling terms, and as Christmas is approaching we will also look at certain foods that pair particularly well, such as strong cheese and spicy meats.
The wines on tasting include:
Monopole Unoaked Blanco 2013
Vina Real Barrel Fermented Blanco 2013
Cune 2010 CrianzaCune 2009
Reserva Contino Reserva 2007
Viňa Real Gran Reserva 2005
Real de Asua 2004
