West London Wine School: Franciacorta – Premier Sparkling Wines of Italy with Tom Harrow

Franciacorta produces some of the highest quality sparkling wines in the entire industry, having received the ultimate DOCG status in 1995. Focusing on stringent, hand-picked selections of Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay grapes, it is crafted using the traditional method with secondary fermentation occurring in bottle.
The Franciacorta consortium has a huge variation of ranges created throughout the regions 3,500 hectares and one particular range is Satèn, which was created in the early 1980s, the wine was to be more delicate in pressure and therefore creamier in mouth-feel, and solely crafted, richly, from white grapes.
