West London Wine School: Vintage 2005 Burgundy 10 Years On
Monday 20 April 2015
,
On this superb evening we shall be tasting a selection of excellent Burgundies from the splendid 2005 vintage. This vintage was rated by Clive Coats MW (Master of Wine) 18.5/20 for the reds being compared to other great vintages such as 1999 and Robert Parker highly sings the year's praises rating it 98/100. This vintage is of unparalleled density and a firm tannic structure for exceptionally long ageing – perhaps the greatest Burgundy vintage of recent times for laying down.
We will taste a Grand Cru Chablis, two Grand Cru Pinot Noirs and all the rest Premier Cru Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs from villages such as Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot, Savigny-les-Beaune and Volnay.
