Honey and creamed almonds segue into a slow whorl of complexity and beauty on the palate. Apple blossom, bergamot, white pepper and saffron top notes, with a richer layer swirling beneath that, of salty papaya, creamed white peaches, waxy and nutty and fanning wide, wider, widest. A thousand fine silvery threads of razor-wire-tight acidity run parallel through a broad sheath of flavour that changes moment by moment. Herbal, then peach flesh, then lime blossom, then bready. Powerful and magnificent, with years still ahead of it. A fantastic example of how good Soave can be, and how good Soave can age. (TC)
