Abel Mendoza Monge – the tasting notes
See here for more information on Abel Mendoza Monge, the husband and wife team producing exclusively varietal wines in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in north-west Rioja. All the wines show lovely purity of fruit and reflect an extremely fastidious approach to each individual variety.
One point to watch out for: there's an unoaked (joven) and an oaked version of Jarrarte and although the labels are different, you have to look closely to see which is which – though the prices are a clue.
