Now is a great time to be buying wine for airlines, and indeed for any of us to be buying medium quality wine. While quality continues to zoom upwards, the wines that really sell are those at the very top and very bottom. There is therefore a glut of good wine around, notably southern hemisphere red. I recently undertook two big blind tastings for British Airways of reds for business class, one of Australian wines and one of South American and was knocked out by the overall standard – very notably better than other similar tastings over past years.
