The world's longest-lived unfortified wines savoured, yet again.

You may remember the extraordinary tale of how Kate Dugdale, widow of wine collector David Dugdale who owned London wine merchant OW Loeb in its heyday, discovered a vast cache of ancient Sauternes behind some cabinets in his extensive cellar. A small group of us met at Hambleton Hall Hotel in Rutland in November 2021 and tasted 30 of them, from 1952 Ch Rieussec back to a stunning 1899 Ch d’Yquem.

But the total number of bottles found was 87 so there was ample opportunity for a second go and accordingly much...
