Chateau Musar was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, since 1959 it has been run by his two sons Serge and Ronald. Since 1979 when Michael Broadbent “discovered” Chateau Musar at the Bristol Wine Fair hailing the 1967 vintage his “find of the fair” it has had wide recognition in the U.K. market. Chateau Musar has produced wines in a back drop that luckily not many other winemakers have had to endure and in 1984 Decanter magazine awarded Serge Hochar as the first Decanter ‘Man of the Year’, recognising his dedication to producing superb wines despite Lebanon’s Civil War. Chateau Musar is one of the world’s most iconic wines and has brought Lebanese wine to a global audience.
It is a great pleasure to have Gaston’s Grandson, Ralph Hochar at the Handford cellars to show a selection of his wines and share the Chateau Musar story.
We will show 11 wines including Chateau Musar:
1982, 1987, 1989,1995, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003.
