Series 4 of the ever popular #EnoClubtastings at Polpo continues – take a tour around Italy’s Midlands with wine tasting and food matching. In addition to the welcome apéritif, you’ll be tasting 6 wines each evening, introduced by our entertaining and expert wine host, Tom Harrow. Ape & Bird will be serving their delicious sharing platters throughout the evening so you’ll be suitably fed and watered.Le Marche stretches down the east or Adriatic coast of Italy, from north of Pesaro to south of Ascoli Piceno. Further inland, its hilltop towns, especially the magnificent Urbino, have a Tuscan or Umbrian air.Landlocked Umbria is most famous for its white wines although its two DOC grade wines are red. Most of the vines are grown on terraces cut into the hillside. The climate is generally sunny, dry summers with cold winters. The Appenine Mountains run down Abruzzo’s western border, with the Adriatic Sea to the east. The vineyards mainly run from west to east along the river valleys. The sea influences the Mediterranean climate while the mountains block many storms and much rainfall from the west.
