Gravner dinner with Mateja Gravner

Friday 27 May 2016

,

Gravner based in Friuli, on the border of Italy and Slovenia is a family run estate. Daughters Mateja and Jana support the endless work and philosophy of their father Josko who has been working this land since he was 15.

A humble farmer, his revolutionary thoughts of looking back in time and using older methods such as skin contact and fermentation in amphorae have spurred a wave of producers, not only in Friuli but world-wide, following in his footsteps. Hence winemaker Podversic lauding him the title of ‘guru.’ To listen to New York sommelier Levi Dalton’s interview with Josko and Matajea click here.

Gravner’s wines champion the local grape ribolla gialla. They are thought provoking and riveting, aged for seven years in large old oak before release. Demand always exceeds allocation, and the ability to taste these wines with a Gravner family member comes about rarely.

We are thrilled to host an intimate dinner with Mateja Gravner who will talk us through the philosophy of her family wines. Seats are very limited.
