Russia

Russia is often overlooked as a producer of wine but southerly vineyards along the Black and Caspian Sea coasts do host a range of international and local varieties, protected from the worst of the winter weather by sea breezes. Historically quality has been variable with an emphasis on bulk production but some properties are making and exporting competently made wines, Ch Le Grand Vostock, Myskhako and Fanagoria amongst them.

In a nutshell
Very variable.
