31 Oct The catalogue for the Barolo Night is now available to download by clicking here.

We're delighted to say that all tickets have now been sold. We look forward very much to seeing you at what should be a thoroughly enjoyable event.

You have just one week to secure a ticket to our very special Barolo Night in London at the earlybird rate of £75 (as opposed to the full rate of £95). For this you will have a chance to sample dozens of fine 2009s together with a selection of more mature examples, and some great food.

Barolo is undoubtedly one of the world's great wines. It reflects the minutiae of terroir every bit as eloquently as great burgundy, although with a completely different accent.

We are huge fans, as you can tell. But we are also very conscious of the fact that British wine lovers tend to be much more knowledgeable about French wine than they are about even the most revered Italian wine. We therefore thought we would hold a celebration of Barolo in London and are planning something really special on the night of Sunday 3 November.

In a convivial walk-round setting we will explore the influence of terroir on the character of great Barolo. Walter has hand-picked more than 30 top wines from the likes of Elio AltareChiara BoschisCavallottoAldo Conterno, SandroneVajra and Vietti (the exact wines are just being finalised) to demonstrate the differences between the best crus from the most important villages of this fascinating corner of the wine world. The focus will be on 2009, a vintage that is particularly easy to appreciate at this early stage, but a selection of older vintages will also be available (see below).

At the popular Caravan in London's recently and dramatically regenerated King's Cross we will gather at 6.30 pm over a glass of Erpacrife's delicate sparkling Nebbiolo. At 7 pm Walter will give a short introductory talk and then you will be free to wander round this spacious setting to enjoy, compare and contrast the nuances of dozens of different 2009s, kindly shipped by the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo whose wonderfully comprehensive selection is in the village of Barolo, chosen to be particularly expressive of their origins.

Accompanying them will be a range of delicious, largely Langhe-inspired things to eat from Caravan's lauded kitchen and pizza oven, in addition to Piemontese delicacies flown over especially for this event, notably cheese and creations based on the famous hazelnuts and chocolate of the region. There is no formal, sit-down, three-course meal but you certainly won't go hungry.

The Accademia del Barolo, a group of some of the Langhe's most eminent producers such as Pio Cesare, Michele Chiarlo and Paolo Scavino, is kindly supplying some fully mature wines from their members to provide a grand finale to your tasting.

Every attendee will also be given a free copy of Alessandro Masnaghetti's meticulously detailed map of the Barolo appellation. Enjoy a chance to meet our team, and to get your hands on personally dedicated copies of the brand new, seventh edition of The World Atlas of Wine that will be available to buy on the night. Christmas presents...?

Public transport connections with Kings Cross are excellent. Caravan Kings Cross, in the same building as UAL (University of the Arts, London) is a short walk north of the Regent Canal exit from the tube station.

To book your tickets,  £75 a head until 1 October, when they rise to £95, see here.
