There are some wonderful, wonderful wines here – set to rival the best 2001s. The extraordinary feature of 2005 for sweet white bordeaux is that yields were not as pitifully low as usual. Why, Yquem managed 12 hl/ha and Climens a whole 24 hl/ha, twice the average between 1995 and 2004. Like the reds, the best sweet whites have enormous energy and brightness of fruit.
