Chianti Classico subzones vindicated
While the Consorzio of Chianti Classico has put its entire weight behind the promotion of Gran Selezione (about which I will write tomorrow), the call from producers, importers, sommeliers and wine lovers for a system of subzones based on Chianti Classico’s historic towns has become so loud it can no longer be ignored. A first sign that the Consorzio is shifting its position was an interview given by Sergio Zingarelli, the Consorzio’s current president and owner of Rocca delle Macìe, an estate that produces almost a million bottles of its entry-level Chianti Classico alone, to the Italian online newsletter Wine...
