I have been enjoying Kistler wines for virtually as long as they have been available, soon after the enterprise was founded in 1978 by Mark Bixler and winemaker Steve Kistler. Kistler has been a landmark name for fine Sonoma Chardonnay almost from the off and the wines have gradually been slimmed down in tune with popular tastes, but it has resolutely retained a low profile, even when Steve Kistler, who continues to be in charge of farming and winemaking at Kistler Vineyards in their Sebastopol headquarters, where a new winery was constructed in 1992, established a new cool-climate Pinot Noir...
