Please note that closing day for applications for the Geoffrey Roberts Award 2010 is next Wednesay 31 March. The pioneer importer of New World wines into the UK after whom the award is named is pictured here.

To find out how to apply for this travel award, for people who feel they can make a positive difference to the world of food and/or drink, go to www.geoffreyrobertsaward.com

Meanwhile, I'm off to Bordeaux to plunge into 2009 bordeaux. Alas this year, owing to a timetabling oversight, poor Cinders Julia has to stay at home processing my tasting notes - not nearly as much fun as tasting.

I will try to stay in touch next week, though it may sometimes be easier to communicate briefly via Twitter (see the bottom of our home page) than to write a long article.

We have lots of good things planned for next week, including dozens of tastning notes on current champagne releases, so do keep checking in. Or, if you want to keep track of what is being published here without visiting, sign up for an RSS feed direct to your email address.
