Back in January, Walter signalled just how exceptionally good the 2010 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino is in 2010 Brunello di Montalcino – a perfect 60-60-60. This has inspired him to organise a tasting of them in London along the lines of our extremely popular Barolo Nights. So on the evening of Sunday 14 June, the first 100 applicants will have a chance to taste nearly 40 Brunello 2010s hand-picked by Walter, and to enjoy food (not a sit-down meal but very welcome finger food with a strong Italian accent) from the celebrated kitchen of Caravan King's Cross. We will, as usual, ensure that top-quality glasses and some top-quality mementoes are available.
We have already hosted two sell-out Barolo Nights (see reports of our Barolo 2009 and Barolo 2010 tastings and Lee Shaughnessy's photograph here of preparations for last year's one). The tasting kicks off at 6.30 pm with Le Chiuse Classic Method Sangiovese dry rosé fizz as an aperitif (an exclusive in the UK) and ends at 9 pm. However, as previous attendees know, we never run out of wine, so there is no need to arrive on the dot of 6.30. Indeed it would be helpful if tasters staggered their arrival times.
