Gimblett Gravels vintage 2019

The 2019 vintage was a real success in Hawke's Bay, as witness this year's collection of reds from its well-drained subregion. Above, some hand-picked 2019 fruit makes its way from Deerstalkers vineyard to Sacred Hill winery.

Every year my fellow Master of Wine Andrew Caillard tastes reds from the latest vintage grown in the area known as the Gimblett Gravels and selects a dozen of the best.
