This is the third and last of our collections of tasting notes on older vintages (see also Mature and maturing bordeaux and Mature and maturing burgundies). It includes wines from both the Northern and Southern Rhône, Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon, almost all reds.
It is alas a much smaller collection than the bordeaux and burgundy ones, with fewer than 30 wines, but it does show how well Languedoc-Roussillon wines (including one extremely impressive white 2002 made by Gérard Gauby, the early adopter of biodynamic viticulture pictured here) can age, despite their relatively modest prices.
