2005 Bordeaux Horizontal: Fine Wine Seminar

Tuesday 23 July 2013

,

2005 marked a monumental vintage for Bordeaux. Excellent weather conditions coupled with ever advancing winemaking technology resulted in exceptional quality across Left and Right Bank Bordeaux.

In this Fine Wine Seminar we will examine Left Bank vs Right Bank Bordeaux and finish with a Sauternes all from 2005.

Even the famously-eloquent wine writer, Robert Parker,  runs out of superlatives when trying to get a grip on 2005. ‘I know I sound like a broken record,’ he admits, ’but here is another estate that may have produced its finest wine…ever.’ Wine after wine is described in the same terms.

While this vintage was pivotal in many wine enthusiasts' assessment of the En Primeur process and Bordeaux prices in general, it is undeniably one of the most succesful years in history.
