Burgundy Masterclass | Unearthing The Terroir
As we get ourselves ready to tackle the delightful Burgundy En Primeur season in early January, we sometimes forget that Burgundy as a region is fiendishly difficult to get to grips with. There are so many elements that play an integral part: the location, the Domain, the style, the winemaker, the vintage, and of course the all-important terroir. There’s no doubt that those wishing to make their first concerted forays into buying Burgundy have a daunting task ahead!   With this in mind, Honest Grapes promises to make the complicated wine world accessible. We have put together a virtual tasting pack of six wines from across the Burgundy spectrum – and I can tell you narrowing that down was no mean feat! These wines will showcase the variations that this glorious region is capable of and hopefully allow plenty of interactions and interjections from Tom and Nathan as they answer all your questions as the tasting progresses.   We will be drinking: Domaine Long-Depaquit Chablis 1er Cru 'les Vaillons', 2018 (50ml) Domaine Philippe Colin Chassagne-Montrachet, 2018 (50ml) Henri Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, 2016 (50ml) Domaine Jean Tardy Nuits-Saint-Georges 'Bas de Combe', 2015 (50ml) Domaine de Montille Beaune 1er Cru 'Les Sizies', 2018 (50ml) Edouard Delaunay Vougeot 1er Cru 'les Petits Vougeots', 2017 (50ml)   So if you’ve always fancied delving deeper into Burgundy, but have been worried that it was too challenging, please join us. However, be warned. Once Burgundy gets under your skin, it can become a little addictive!
