You are invited to our next tasting on Tuesday 25th February from 17.00-21.00h at our shop in Clifton Road W9.
Joining us on Tuesday night from Baden Baden will be Robert Schatzle whose Schloss Neuweier wines are already making waves on the German wine scene despite 2012 being his first full vintage! We have three of his expressive, racy, dry Rieslings (unusually grown on granite) in the line-up.

Our latest shipment from Lombardy has arrived, from Cantina di Casteggio. We are planning to open two of their wines, both Pinot Noir – kicking off the tasting with their wonderful sparkling white “Postumio” and leading the red selection with their silky Pinot Nero. http://www.thewineryuk.com/growers/cantina-di-casteggio-oltrepo-pavese/
One of the highpoints of our trip to Bordeaux late last year was a last minute diversion into the Bergerac. Why? We had been in a wine bar in Bordeaux one night and the wine of the evening turned out to be not Bordeaux but a sweaty Pecharmant from Bergerac. On Tuesday we will be showing Didier Roche’s slightly sleeker, slightly less animal Cuvee Veuve Roches.

Another recent arrival is a big, deep, delicious new wine called Taruguin from northern Spain made by Nacho Leon who makes the top-shelf Demencia. http://www.thewineryuk.com/growers/taruguin/

After over six years at The Winery our colleague Giorgio Parrino is moving on and this will be his last tasting on this side of the counter. His wonderful, warm personality will be greatly missed in the shop but hopefully you will visit him at World of Whiskies as you pass through Gatwick Airport.
What else is new? Shock – Australian wine at The Winery?! A year after stumbling across two Yarra Valley wineries on a trip to Sydney and Melbourne, our first serious shipment of Australian wine has just arrived. We really had no intention of starting with Australian wine (yet), but simply couldn’t stop ourselves. Everyone knows us as strictly northern hemisphere but two bottles – The Yarra Yarra by Yarra Yarra and The North Face by Wedgetail were impossible to ignore. http://www.thewineryuk.com/countries/australia/
