Old World vs New World Superstars with Simon Woods in Manchester

This April once again we’ll be gathering to pit some of the best wines from classic regions against their counterparts from other parts of the globe in our "Old World v New World Superstars" tasting. Last time we ran a similar event, the “Away” team included sparkling rosé from the UK, Chenin Blanc from South Africa, a Napa Valley Merlot and an Australian GSM (Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvèdre) blend. For 2023, we’ll be comparing Rieslings from Germany and Washington State, Viogniers from Condrieu and Australia, Malbecs from Cahors and Argentina and finally Pinot Noirs from Burgundy and New Zealand During the two-hour session, we’ll taste eight wines with an average price of £30+ per bottle, and there'll also be some cheese to nibble on. It’s an excellent chance for beginners and seasoned wine tasters alike to decide whether you favour the Old World, the New World, or just any wine as long as it’s very good! At just £50 a person, it’s brilliant value, as well as being a perfect gift to treat someone who loves wine!
