ONLINE FINE WINE TASTING: Meet the Winemaker - Taste of Tuscany with Cecchi and Winemaker Miria Bracali (with West London Wine School)

Tuesday 16 November 2021

,

We have a rather wonderful evening hosted by winemaker Miria Bracali of Cecchi wine estate in Tuscany, Italy. Miria will introduce the different regions of Tuscany and their wines, and show you the sometimes subtle differences which soil, climate and winemaking can bring to the grapes of this famous wine region. Wines on tasting include Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Vernaccia di San Gimignano amongst others (see below). Cecchi Established in 1893 in Poggibonsi, in the Siena province, Cecchi is today one of Italy's most successful family-owned, independent wineries. Today brothers Andrea and Cesare Cecchi are the fourth generation of the family to run the estates. Headquartered in Castellina in Chianti in the historic heart of the region, they also have estates and vineyards in San Gimignano, home to the famous Vernaccia grape, in Val delle Rose near the Tuscan coast, and at Montefalco in Umbria just over the border, from where they produce the legendary Sagrantino wine. These estates provide a whistle-stop tour of the region's highlights, with most of the reds based on Tuscany's own Sangiovese grape, but always with a very local interpretation, and whites from Vernaccia and Vermentino, which is another grape that loves the sunshine. Chief Winemaker Miria Bracali Miria graduated with a degree in Chemistry and began her career in wine, intitally working in the winemaking lab at Casa Vinicola Cecchi. Her flair for winemaking soon showed itself, and she took on roles with increasing responsibility until the present day, where she is Winery Technical Director and Production Manager for the whole business.⁣ Miria leads a team of around 30 people, overseeing the company's production of some of Italy's favourite wines, Chianti Classico, Vernaccia, Morellino di Scansano and many more.
