ONLINE TASTING - Fresh, French and Fabulous!

Not for nothing are Chablis and Sancerre two of the most famous white wines in the world. Countless winemakers around the world look to them for inspiration for their Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blancs, but while these newcomers have produced some excellent wines, the French role models can still be delicious, especially in the summer heat. So join us for an evening where we celebrate these two famous white wines. We'll take a look at where and how they're made, as well as at how, despite being produced in different regions from different grapes, they have a few things in common. We'll also talk about how winemakers in both regions have responded to the impact of competition from the New World - in both bad ways and good... I would recommend buying in advance:

• 1 bottle of Chablis - most supermarkets have a reasonable own-label version.
• 1 bottle of Sancerre – the white version, not the pink or red! Again, own-label versions are perfectly adequate.

With both, spending a little more money will yield a lot more wine... You'll enjoy both more if you have some food to nibble on. Goat's cheese works well with both, as do most fish and seafood. Indeed, if you fancy something more substantial and are near a good chippy, they're remarkably good with fish and chips - just don't make the rest of us too jealous by wafting them in front of your webcam! One ticket will entitle everyone in your household to attend this tasting – make sure you have enough wine to go around!
