Rías Baixas Masterclass - online food and wine tasting

Following the success of our Online Rioja tasting in May, we're delighted to announce another Spanish masterclass looking at the wines of Galicia, the region known as 'Green Spain' Our focus will be on the whites of Rías Baixas, which are possibly the most seafood friendly wines available. While we can’t duplicate the atmosphere of a vibrant restaurant in picturesque Pontevedra, we can bring some Galician charm into your home by the power of Zoom. With help from Vin-Yard Bar + Wine Shop, we’ve put together a special “Bolsa de Regalos” – that’s what Google Translate comes up with for “goodie bag”… Included in this high-grade cotton tote bag are lots of info on the region, some olives, almonds and Kikones (a classic Spanish corn-based snack), and most importantly two excellent but quite different Rías Baixas whites. One is a blend in which the region’s star grape Albariño is joined by two other local varieties Loureiro & Treixadura. The other is a superb single-vineyard Albariño fermented using indigenous yeasts and aged carefully on the lees for 8 months to give extra richness and complexity.
