South Africa’s Testalonga & Intellego - online tasting with West London Wine School
Join us for an exciting and mouth-watering double-header as we rally our support for South Africa’s sadly covid-crippled wine industry. Spread out over two nights, we first welcome the enigmatic Craig Hawkins of Testalonga to guide us through his history and the estate tasting three of his highly-acclaimed wines. Then the following week we welcome Jurgen Gouws of Intellego, who is one of the new kids on the block crafting utterly delicious wines of superb quality and innovation. We’ll taste through another three wines from Intellego, Jurgen’s label. So for the price of one ticket you get a tasting of two stars in the South African wine scene. Wine school founder and owner Jimmy Smith is a passionate ambassador for the wines of South Africa and has visited the country many times to unearth the exciting and emerging wine scene that has developed at full pace over the last 20 years. With his connections he has managed to establish this wonderful evening, and right now it matters more-than-ever that you join in the fun, as South Africa’s wine industry has been battling some ‘interesting’ and ‘challenging’ decisions from the South African government. These decisions, such as banning the sale of alcohol over extensive periods of time, have severely threatened the very existence of many smaller growers and producers and put the jobs and livelihoods of thousands at risk. It’s time to show your support – and have fun whilst doing it! TASTING SERIES DATES (Each of the two sessions begins at 6:30pm and will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour): - Friday 2nd October 2020 - Friday 9th October 2020 COURSE STRUCTURE AND FORMAT: Jimmy Smith will be joined by Craig Hawkins on Friday 2nd October and by Jurgen Gouws on Friday 9th October. Each session will be hosted live at 6:30pm over two consecutive Fridays. Each session will be approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. Unable to commit to each evening? No problem! Anyone registered for this tasting series will gain access to the video recordings of each session, so you can always revisit any of these at anytime in the future - whether its because you missed participating in the live evening or if you want to revisit the presentation at a later date. Each evening, we will be tasting three wines that are discussed during that evening's session. A case of each wine covered throughout the series (6 in total) will be available to order for anyone registered to attend the course, so if you'd like, you can also purchase and enjoy the wines with Craig, Jurgen and Jimmy on the night (or at a later date). The cost for this 6 bottle case is £125. Any wine orders received after 12pm will be processed on the next working day. We are working hard to deliver your order within two working days of the order being processed however due to the current environment the wines may arrive a day or two later than expected. PLEASE NOTE: As the wine case is ordered directly from our 3rd party supplier, West London Wine School gift vouchers are NOT redeemable towards the purchase of the course's optional wine case. PLEASE NOTE: As this is a virtual tasting, only one seat needs to be booked per household UNLESS individuals will be logging into the tasting series with different computers/tablets.
