Tasting at Home - 4 Week Compare and Contrast: France vs The New World

Starts 10th June 2020 (for 4 Wednesday evening sessions) This fascinating course will focus on the classic wine regions of France and compare them against the best of the New World. Join us each evening as we taste several pairs of wines made from the same grape variety, but from different countries. Do you think you can tell the difference between Syrah from the south of France and Shiraz from the Barossa Valley? By the end of the course you will be able to! We will compare Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and more from the best locations and producers from France and the New World. It is only when you taste these wines together that the differences really stand out, and the comparisons can bring some amazing insights into wine styles. We will taste wines from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, California, and compare them to wine from Loire, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhone, Alsace and Champagne. We will vote at the end of each session and you will decide who wins in France Vs New World.  Course Programme (4 sessions - all Wednesdays): 10th June - Bordeaux versus - looking at Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauternes 17th June - Loire versus - looking at Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc  24th June - Rhone and Alsace versus - looking at Shiraz and Riesling 1st July - Burgundy versus - looking at Chardonnay, Pinot Noir All in all a fantastic opportunity to taste exciting wines and discover those you like best. Challenge the way you think about wine - for ever!  Key Details: There will be recommended wines for each tasting session available as a discounted case, however these are not mandatory and can be substituted with wines of your choice. Course materials and videos will be available to you following the tasting so you can learn again at any time.
