Tasting at Home - Bordeaux versus The New World
This fascinating online wine tasting will focus on one of the world’s best-known wine region, Bordeaux. Here, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are the most widely planted grapes, so it’s no surprise that virtually every New World country has sought to emulate the French originals. How successful have Chile and the West Coast of the USA they been in their attempts? It’s your chance to discover which you think is best by tasting wines from France and elsewhere, side by side.  The classic wine region of Bordeaux is home to many black grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc but its not all about the reds. In addition we find white grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon producing wonderful refreshing dry whites and the most lauded sweet wine in the world, Sauternes. We will seek to unwrap the mysteries which shroud these wines: is it the climate which makes these wines so special? The wine making practices? Or, the grapes themselves? Or is it, as the French would simply say, down to terroir? All in all a fantastic opportunity to taste exciting wines and discover those you like best. Challenge the way you think about wine - for ever!  Key Details: Wine is not included but we will recommended wines to try during the tasting session, however these are not mandatory and can be substituted with wines of your choice from the  region or grape variety.
