Tasting at Home - Loire versus The New World
The Loire- often referred to as the 'garden of France' thanks to its lush, verdant countryside produces elegant, crisp and aromatic whites. Whilst Loire's best known grape variety, Sauvignon Blanc. receives plenty of attention on the global stage, it is often overlooked that the home of this grape is right here in North West France. These examples are elegant, herbaceous and zingy with citrus-tinged acidity; a perfect foil to the local rich and creamy goat's cheese. But moving towards the coast we will uncover the lesser known gems of the region such as the ripe, appley Chenin Blanc from the chalky soils of Anjou.  Or Nantes where the bone dry, summer classic Muscadet is grown. Get ready to set your taste buds tingling! Many of these grapes have found fame however outside of France. The powerhouse that is New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has found global appeal but what about a rich, complex South African Chenin Blanc, could this be your favourite? All in all a fantastic opportunity to taste exciting wines and discover those you like best. Challenge the way you think about wine - for ever!  Key Details: Wine is not included but we will recommended wines to try during the tasting session, however these are not mandatory and can be substituted with wines of your choice from the region or grape variety.
