The seven day WSET Level 3 Award in Wines course is for those that have already gained WSET Level 2 wine knowledge or equivalent. The course is appropriate for those in the drinks and hospitality industries in a supervisory capacity and those that need core information to advise management and customers with authority. It is also ideal for wine enthusiasts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of wines.  What you'll learn On the course you will develop the skills to explain why certain grapes are grown in different places and what the wine maker has been up to, which is a much more fulfilling way to learn and retain information that simply studying the facts:
  • The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling
  • How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal:
    • still wines of the world
    • sparkling wines of the world
    • fortified wines of the world
  • How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality
  • How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine

For full details on the course see WSET Level 3 Award in Wines Specification Document  Fees include: comprehensive study materials, wine samples (almost 80 wines are tasted on the course) and WSET examination fees (plus WSET certificate and lapel pin for those who pass).  You will need your own set of ISO tasting glasses - this can be purchased on the course.  Tuition is led by Erica Dent (former WSET Educator of the Year) who also provides exceptional homework support.  The course is taught at The Blend Academy in central Winchester - the venue is walkable from the train station.
