Melon de Bourgogne

The Muscadet grape, so successful in the region because it withstands cold well and is quite prolific. The wine it produces is neither very acid nor strongly flavoured, but rather a neutral base on which to embroider terroir and sur lie characteristics. Some of California's 'Pinot Blanc' may be Melon.
