Wagner-Stempel, Neu-Bamberger Rotliegend Riesling trocken 2020 Rheinhessen

16

Red clayey slate and iron-laced sandstone. Ambient-yeast ferment and raised in traditional 1,200-litre German oak barrels.
The quiet nose of lime and ripe peach is underscored with a delicate greenery of summer herbs and meadow flowers. Like any wine of pedigree (it’s harvested from a site adjacent to the Heerkretz), it reveals itself in its own time. Beautiful aromatic refinement gives way to a structured palate pacing with juicy urgency as it dashes from spice to fruit to citrus peel and back. Long, lingering saline finish. (PS)
