The Aldo Conterno estate is quite impossible to overlook and rather grander than the artisanal producer dwelling you might be expecting in this part of Piemonte, especially when your previous stop has been Lorenzo Accomasso (a very modest producer indeed, of whom more later).
I first drove past it on the road leading to Monforte d'Alba without giving it a second glance. The Conterno website merely speaks of 'a farm', but Favot, as the estate (shown below) is called, is in fact more like a château assembled from a large collection of buildings.
