Bordeaux 2012 at Southwold – the whites

You may be surprised that I'm kicking off my three-part coverage of the 250-odd 2012 bordeaux tasted blind in Southwold recently with these tasting notes on the whites (reds follow tomorrow and Thursday). 

Not that the Sauternes were anything to write home about. Unusually, the 2012 vintage did not smile on sweet white bordeaux. As in 2000, the flowering had been a little difficult, and fine weather started only as late as 15 July. There was a little...
