Good wine retailers in Munich

Wednesday 13 September 2006 • 1 min read
Purple pager Trevor Johnston asked for recommendations, and here are a few, from  a friendly source in Munich:

There are a frightening number of wine retailers in Munich. Many of them are highly specialised, eg Herr German in Burgundy, Herr Helbig in the Eugean Hills in Italy. The department stores are notable for buying wines from all over the world, but there is little continuity so you may not get the same wine in another vintage.

Then there’s Möwenpick and Jacque’s Weindepot, who deal in bin ends. Plus there are hundreds of insignificant retailers. The ones I have listed are retailers. Alongside them are the wholesalers (eg Sabitzer) but they never or rarely sell to private customers.

In my opinion, only a few retailers in Munich are in the premier league. These are listed in alphabetical order, ranked by number of stars after the name.
